Simon Craig – Southern Highlands Carpet Court

MSF30813 Certificate III in Flooring Technology

Simon commenced his flooring apprenticeship with Southern Highlands Carpet Court in 2015.

Prior to commencing his apprenticeship, Simon spent a year working in the flooring industry which has given him a basic understanding of the work involved.

During his four years as an apprentice, Simon has learnt to lay a variety of floors, along with the various ways this can be done, and the amount of time involved in floor preparation. He has learnt that you need to be independent, self-reliant and learn to do things for yourself. He has also learnt a number of soft skills including patience and good communication skills.

What does Simon enjoy about this industry?

Job satisfaction! Every floor and job is different - he loves the variety and seeing the transformation from an old, tatty or boring floor into something new and different.

Simon would definitely recommend a flooring apprenticeship to others, as long as you are prepared to put in the hard work it will definitely be a worthwhile and rewarding career!

At completion, Simon was fortunate enough to receive a $300 voucher from Intafloors as a result of his exceptional work ethic and attitude.

Well done Simon! We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
